Dear Datadog Talent Acquisition team,
I would like to put my name forward for the Sales Engineer role you listed on your careers page. The last several years of my work have been in sales engineering, and I would be glad to carry that over to your team.
Before writing I spent a while reading about Datadog, and what caught my eye was your new LLM observability launch and the engineering posts on scaling the metrics ingestion pipeline. It reads like a strong moment to come aboard, and I would like to bring my sales engineering experience to bear as the team pushes on that.
Going through the posting, I gather that your three biggest needs for this role are running technical demos and proof-of-concept builds, technical discovery and solution scoping and partnering with sales, product, and engineering. Those are what separate a sales engineer who lands the deal from one who does not, and I have real wins behind each.
On running technical demos and proof-of-concept builds, my daily kit is live product demos, POC environments and API integrations. As a Sales Engineer at Snowflake, I owned standing up a proof-of-concept for a Fortune 500 prospect that turned into a six-figure contract. Beyond that, I rebuilt the shared demo environment so the team could tailor it to any account in under an hour.
For technical discovery and solution scoping, I draw on technical discovery, requirements gathering and solution architecture. During my time as a Sales Engineer at Snowflake, I took charge of running discovery sessions that mapped a prospect data stack and scoped an integration the buyer signed off on.
On partnering with sales, product, and engineering, I bring objection handling, product feedback loops and stakeholder alignment. As a Sales Engineer at Snowflake, I took on routing recurring prospect objections back to product, which shaped two roadmap items. Beyond that, I paired with account executives to turn technical wins into closed revenue.
I would value the chance to walk through all of this in an interview and show you why the fit is there. I would be glad to help your team win deals and keep growing right alongside it.
I hope to hear back from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
