Hi there ! Thank you for stopping by and looking at my profile !
First things first: here’s the story behind my journey in only 7 points 😉.
🇯🇵 I started my Recruitment career 11 years ago, in Japan as a rookie headhunter, hoping to - let’s be honest - make (at least) a gazillion yen.
The life of a “Recruitment Consultant” was exciting (because you get to talk to hundreds of people), yet exhausting (because you have to talk to hundreds of people).
👔 After 4 years of working with very cool clients such as Warner, Disney or Universal, I realized that I was more excited to learn about the different skill sets that made a business go round, rather than just “making one more deal”...
…So I changed lanes and looked for in-house recruiting roles, where you work *with* the Hiring Managers you support (spoiler alert: it does help).
This is what brought me to work for Groupon, and later on for Google in the UK.
💡 Google taught me what it means to hire the best, with an insanely sophisticated hiring process, attention to details in analyzing skill sets, and ever present focus on data in decision making (“data or it didn’t happen !”).
After hiring 100s of new Googlers and working with dozens of Hiring Managers, it eventually became very clear to me who are the selected few, and why.
💻 Google also revived my love for technology: as a 1990’s kid, I lived the “arrival” of the internet and I remember the thrill of getting up at 5 AM to get online with the family PC before my parents got up.
I had always wondered “how it all works”, and 4 years ago (while we were all stuck at home, figuring out how much vodka goes into scrambled eggs), I eventually decided to learn.
🧑💻 This got me on a new path of learning the joys (and frustrations) of web development, from the fundamentals of JavaScript syntax to understanding RESTful APIs and the MVC architecture, and eventually to writing performant PWAs with server-side rendering and integrated AI Models.
✊ Having always wanted to run my own shop, I decided to put it all together… But this time to help Candidates, not companies !
There’s a sea of services for corporations, but no one seems to care about helping you during your job search.
🏢 It all starts with a resume, so I first spent 2 years transforming everything that I know into my own framework for resume writing (yes, I went deep) and helping candidates as a side-business… to realize my method actually works !!
So after 5 years in London, I returned to Tokyo and founded TechieCV (www.techiecv.com)
... and the rest is history 😀
