Dear Airbnb Talent Acquisition team,
I would like to apply for the Engineering Manager role you have posted on your careers page. My focus these past few years has been engineering management, and I would be glad to bring that to your team.
Ahead of writing I read about Airbnb, and what stood out was your work rebuilding the payments platform and the engineering posts on how your managers keep teams healthy while shipping fast. This looks like a strong time to join, and I would gladly put my engineering management experience to work there.
Reading the posting, the three needs that stand out most are leading and growing an engineering team, delivering the roadmap and hiring and developing engineers. Those decide whether an engineering manager works out, and I have real results behind each.
On leading and growing an engineering team, my daily tools are one-on-ones, coaching and performance management. As an Engineering Manager at Lyft, I handled growing a team of four into a high-trust group of nine without losing momentum. Beyond that, I built the career-ladder and review process the department now runs on.
For delivering the roadmap, I rely on roadmap planning, delivery and stakeholder management. During my time as an Engineering Manager at Lyft, I took on delivering a two-quarter platform roadmap on time across three squads.
On hiring and developing engineers, I bring hiring, onboarding and team health. Working as an Engineering Manager at Lyft, I owned hiring six engineers in a tight market and keeping regretted attrition near zero. On top of that, I raised team engagement scores while cutting cycle time by a third.
I would be glad to walk through this in an interview and show why I fit. I am ready to lead and grow a team that ships steadily and enjoys the work, and to grow with the org.
I would be glad to find a time to talk.
Yours sincerely,
