We are TechieCV Co. Ltd, based in Tokyo, Japan. We help connect job seekers in tech with companies hiring and recruiters in Japan.

What do we do with your data?

With your consent, we collect and process your information (like your name, job history, skills, and visa status) to include your profile in our recruitment database. Recruiters and companies with a paying account can view your profile to offer job opportunities.

What data do we collect?

Work and education history
Skills, salary expectation.
Professional Profile links (LinkedIn, GitHub, etc.)
IP address and site usage data

Only vetted Japanese companies and recruiters who pay for access

Where is your data stored?

Data is stored in Japan and may be securely transferred to partners in the EEA, Canada, the U.S, and India under proper safeguards.

How long do we keep your data?

We keep it until you delete your account. You can also hide your profile at any time.

TechieCV Co. Ltd (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting personal data. We process information in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) in Japan, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the EU, and applicable U.S. state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you provide it to be included in our Services

Unless otherwise stated in this Policy, all capitalized terms defined in this section shall have the same meaning throughout the entire Privacy Policy.

“APPI”: Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

“GDPR”: General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation 2016/679).

“CCPA/CPRA”: California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act.

“Personal Data”: “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘Data Subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person”

“Data Breach”: a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed”

“Compatible Purpose”: a use of personal data that is reasonably related to or consistent with the original purpose of collection.”

“Services or “Service”: Any service provided by the Company

“Resume Content Service”: content writing services offered by the Company

“Database Service”: Service offered by the Company access to a recruitment database to Data-user

“Database Individual Users”: individual users of the Database Service seeking to give access to their profile to Database professional users.

“Database Professional Users”: registered professional seekers access the Database Service for the sake of recruitment sourcing

“User” or “Users”: refers to all users of the Service

3. What Personal Data We Collect

We may collect the following types of personal data from Users:

Identity Data: Name, nationality, (optional: gender)
Contact Data: Email address, phone number, location (city, country).
Professional Data: CV/resume, job title, employer(s), work experience, academic history, skills, visa status in Japan
Technical Data: IP address, behavioral data from platform activity, log data
When you visit or leave our Services (including some plugins and our cookies or similar technology on the sites of others), we receive the URL of both the site you came from and the one you go to and the time of your visit. We also get information about your network and device (e.g., IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, cookie IDs and/or ISP, or your mobile carrier). If you use our Services from a mobile device, that device will send us data about your location based on your phone settings. We will ask you to opt-in before we use GPS or other tools to identify your precise location. We receive information about your visits and interaction with services provided by others when you log-in with LinkedIn or visit others’ services that include some of our plugins, cookies or similar technologies.
Profile Links: Social/professional media links, personal websites.
Optional Data: gender, salary information (current and desired).

We do not collect genetic data, biometric data, political opinions, religious beliefs, or trade union membership, unless legally required or with explicit consent.

Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 16 (or under 13 where applicable under U.S. law, such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).

We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without verified parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

4. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

We process your Personal Data to operate our recruitment platform and provide our Services effectively. The purposes of processing include:

4.1 Purposes

4.1.1. Services

To perform and deliver our Services (including the Content Writing Service and the Database Service).
To include your profile in our curated recruitment database accessible by Database Professional Users, only with your express consent.
To provide paid access to verified companies and recruitment professionals for the purpose of talent sourcing and hiring.
To contact you with relevant job opportunities, project-based roles, or recruitment offers based on your profile, preferences, and qualifications.

4.1.2. Service Delivery and Platform Management

To operate, maintain, and improve the functionality, performance, and usability of our recruitment platform.
To personalise and enhance user experience through analytics and user feedback.
To ensure continuity of service, such as backups, migration, or updates.

4.1.3. Legal Compliance

To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal obligations, including tax, employment, and data protection requirements.
To respond to lawful requests from public authorities, including national security or law enforcement requirements.

4.1.4. Marketing and Communication (where permitted by law or with your consent)

To send you relevant updates, newsletters, or promotional material about our services, job market trends, or partner opportunities.
You may opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time.

4.1.5. Research and Development

To conduct internal research and develop new features, services, or functionalities related to recruitment and career development.
To analyze anonymized or aggregated user behavior to inform strategic decisions.

4.1.6. User Support and Account Management

To provide you with customer support and respond to your inquiries, feedback, or complaints.
To administer your user account and preferences, including authentication and security measures.

4.1.7. Anonymized Insights and Analytics

To generate statistical reports or business insights that do not identify you personally.
To monitor platform usage trends, measure performance, and support business intelligence activities.

4.1.8. Security, Fraud Prevention, and Investigation

To detect, prevent, and investigate security incidents, fraudulent activities, or violations of our Terms of Use or legal obligations.
To protect the integrity and safety of our platform, users, and systems.

4.1.9. Compatible Processing

We may process Personal Data for further purposes that are compatible with the original purpose for which the data was collected, pursuant to Article 6(4) of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”). Where compatibility is established, the Controller shall not be required to obtain a new legal basis for such further processing.

4.2. Legal Bases for Processing Personal Data

We process Personal Data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) in Japan, and other applicable data protection laws. The specific legal basis for processing depends on the nature of the interaction and the context in which the data is collected. We rely on the following legal bases:

4.3. Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a))

We may process your Personal Data when you have freely given your explicit, informed, and unambiguous consent for a specific purpose. For example:

When you submit your profile to be included in our recruitment database.
When you agree to receive marketing communications or optional services.
You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

4.4. Performance of a Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b))

Where applicable, we process Personal Data to enter into or perform a contract with you. This includes:

Providing to Users access to the Services
Facilitating communication between Individual Database Users and Professional Database Users.
Managing user accounts, billing, and the Services’ performance.

4.5. Legitimate Interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f))

We may process your Personal Data where it is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, provided that such interests are not overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms. Our legitimate interests include:

Improving our Services.

Where this basis is relied upon, we conduct a balancing test to ensure that our interests do not adversely impact your rights, and we implement safeguards such as pseudonymisation or opt-outs where appropriate.

For users based in Japan or where Japanese law applies, we process Personal Data in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). This includes fulfilling duties such as:

This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites.

6. Categories of Data Recipients

We may share your Personal Data with trusted third parties where necessary to provide our Services, comply with legal obligations, or protect legitimate interests. These recipients include:

6.1. Professional Users of the Database

Your Personal Data may be made available to vetted Japanese companies and authorized recruiters with a paying account to our Database Service. These users access your data solely for the purpose of talent sourcing and eventually recruitment, in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

You acknowledge that this list of Professional Users may be updated through amendments to this Privacy Policy. If there is a change to the categories of Professional Users with access to your data, you will be notified. You have the right to object to the continued processing of your Personal Data as a result of such changes and may request the deletion of your profile and associated Personal Data at any time.

6.2. Internal Personnel

Access to Personal Data is strictly limited to authorized employees or contractors who require access for operational, administrative, or support purposes. All personnel are subject to confidentiality obligations and data protection training.

6.3. Trusted Service Providers

We may engage third-party service providers to support our operations, including:

Web hosting and infrastructure providers
CRM and customer support systems
Email delivery and analytics tools

These providers are bound by contractual data processing agreements requiring them to process Personal Data only on our instructions and in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

Your Personal Data will be retained for as long as your profile is active.

to hide your profile from other Users, they shall not have access to your profile
to modify any information on your profile and request deletion of your profile.

Full deletion will occur within ten (10) business days upon deletion request.

Certain data may be retained longer to comply with legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations (e.g., financial recordkeeping up to 10 years).

8. Security Measures

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect Personal Data, including:

Role-based access controls.
Secure authentication methods.
Access management policies and staff training.
Logging, monitoring, and periodic audits.

9. Your Rights

We may ask you to provide sufficient information to verify your identity before fulfilling your request, including but not limited to your full name, email address, and a form of identification.

We will respond to your request without undue delay and, in any event, within 30 days of receipt of a valid and verifiable request. If the request is particularly complex or if we have received a high volume of requests, we may extend this period by an additional 30 days, in which case you will be informed of the extension and the reasons for the delay within the initial 30-day period.

10. Data Monetization and Limited Disclosure

We provide a Database Service, allowing Individual Users to become part of the sourcing database accessible to registered Professional Database Users to access the Database in their recruitment sourcing processes.

The Database service is free for Individual Users while it is provided as a paying Service for Professional Database Users. The Database Service is completely optional to the Content Written Service. We shall not process your Personal Data for the purpose of the Database Service unless you have explicit consent to it.

Only the “Database Service” including Personal Data is offered to paying Professional Database users for recruitment sourcing purposes as listed in articles 6. Categories of Data Recipients.
Without prejudice to the previous paragraph, we do not sell data for advertising or unrelated commercial purposes. Professional Database users are forbidden from selling or giving access to third parties.
You acknowledge and accept that you will not be provided a detailed list of the recruiters and companies are not provided a list of companies accessing the “Database Service”.
I agree that Professional Database Users may send you a request to enter into contact.
You may opt out of the Database any time yourself or by contacting info@techieCV.com, and your data will be removed from active databases without undue delay as provided in the article. 8. Data Retention.

11. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will act promptly and responsibly:

We will assess the incident without undue delay to determine the nature, scope, and potential impact of the breach.
Where required, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of affected data subjects, we will notify those individuals without undue delay.

We reserve the right to delay such notification if advised by law enforcement or regulatory authorities that immediate disclosure could compromise ongoing investigations or mitigation efforts.

We may, however, refrain from notifying affected individuals if:

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures — such as encryption — that render the Personal Data unintelligible to unauthorized parties;
We have taken subsequent measures to eliminate any remaining high risk to the rights and freedoms of data subjects;
Notification would require disproportionate effort. In such cases, we will instead issue a public communication or take a similar measure to inform data subjects in an equally effective manner.

12. Limitations of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

We disclaim any warranties, express or implied, regarding the security, availability, or accuracy of the platform.
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from access to or use of our Services or the processing of your Personal Data.
We disclaim any liability in case of misuse of the Service of Users your other Users.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising under or relating to this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Tokyo, Japan.

We reserve the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy at any time:
